Philippa
I am really crushing on this name lately. I think its because I've recently rediscovered my adoration for horses since seeing my friend's horse - and as some of you might know, it means "lover of horses" ;) I'm amazed I didn't pick this name for myself when I was a pony-crazed 12 year old. It's a cool name and the idea that I could call her Pip or Pippa (or even Phil) is just too much fun. Help me find some nifty combos for it?!Philippa Fay is my current fave, I like the similar sounds to the initials and the way Fay lightens up Philippa's drama. But Fay is kind of a fluffy filler middle and I feel absurdly guilty about that.Other ideas (*=honouring):Philippa Mary*
Philippa Marianne*
Philippa Iris
Philippa Ivy
Philippa May
Philippa Lise*
Philippa Rose*
Philippa Jeanne*
Philippa Eve
Philippa Shirley* (never thought I'd see the day that Shirley looked nice)
Philippa Joan*

Other ideas? Opinions? Thanks!

Philippa Margaret, Philippa Helen, Philippa Alice ... I think it needs to be medieval. So, Jean, rather than Jeanne, and Joan before both. Philippa Jane is good too. Philippa Antoinette, of all things!

I love Philippa! Your combo is cute and I don't find Fay to be really frilly or fillery. I'd prefer Philippa Faye though, I just like the 'e' at the end.
Philippa Rose would be fillery but I still like it and Philippa Joan is nice too.

I have a crush on it too. Fay fits really well with it and so does Rose - eh, fillers schmillers. :) Philippa Iris is lovely, and Philippa Joan / Jeanne / Jehanne is just so marvellously medieval. I can see her now, begowned and be-wimpled, playing the spinet in a tower with piles of knights at her feet, all a-swooning from courtly lurve. What else, hmmm...

Philippa Rowena
Philippa Frances

I was just thinking about Phillipa last night. I never liked the name before, but it grew on me.I like Phillipa Rose. I really can't stand the NN's Pip or Pippa, however; too "Great Expectations."

I've loved Philippa from years.
Oddly enough, before that, I hated it. Then I went through some awkward phase and went from hating it to loving it in the matter of a week or so. From yours, I like...

I prefer the Swedish spelling Filippa. Also, please don't call her Pippa. It's a slong for "having sex with" in Swedish, and in some other languages too. I like Philippa Rose the most.

No kidding! I had no idea about the Pippa thing. Is Pip related to that slang too? I do prefer Pip to Pippa, it seems more natural. I thought I might get some flack for using poor filler Rose, but it really is lovely, isn't it? Thanks!

No, Pip isn't related. "pip" however is a Swedish word for "beep" but I wouldn't care about that. Another nickname is Pippi. Suggestions:Philippa Rosemary
Philippa Rosalie
Philippa Hannelore
Philippa Wendy
Philippa Eliana
Philippa Mathilde
Philippa Fiona
Philippa Joy
Philipa Venus

Oh it is for SURE stuffy and dated, which is also another reason I enjoy it! Come on Sanja, you know me and my stuffy old names! ;)I like these:
Philippa Garnet - Philippa is a rich red colour to me and this enhances it nicely!
Philippa Wren
Philippa Victoria
Philippa Hope
Philippa Lenore - red and black, very dramatic and elegant.
Philippa Bryony - I love the image of twisting plant tendrils I get with this pairing.Thank you!
