WDYTO Lorna? I've always had a soft spot for it myself.
WDYTO Sonja? This is another name I've always had a soft spot for. What spelling do you prefer: Sonja, Sonya or Sonia? How often do you think Sonja would be mispronounced in an English speaking country? I prefer that spelling but cringe at the thought of someone saying son-ja.

I dislike Lorna, it sounds hillbillyish to me. Sorry.
Sonja is my aunt's name, well...it was, she died a week ago. I was just thinking that it's a beautiful name and I may use it on a future daughter. I originally would have used Sonia, because it looked more balanced, but lately Sonja has been the only one for me. I actually don't think it would be mispronounced in the States.
Edited to add: Do you pronounce it SON-ya or SAWN-ya? My family prn. it SAWN-ya, but I always called my aunt SON-ya, and that's what I prefer.

I pronounce it SON-ya, the first syllable like the word sewn. I used to work with a woman named Sonia who pronounced it SAWN-ya and I just don't care for that pronunciation.

I adore Lorna, it's such a lovely soft name and it's well within my top 20.
I like the spelling Sonya (my cousin's name), and I don't mind Sonia (first-cousin-once-removed's name, which is confusing, we say "Sonia with an I" when we're talking about her!). Sonja I think would sometimes be a problem, but people would get used to it.

I really like Sonja, and I prefer that spelling BUT I'm Swedish and in Swedish the J is soft, so it is pronounced as one in English would Sonya. So if I wanted to use the name myself I would probably lean towards Sonya to not have the pronounciation issue, eventhough I like Sonja better. ( I have the same problem with Katja / Katya )

Lorna is a great name! Occasionally it reminds me too much of the word Forlorn, but I still really like it.
Sonja is great! I also really like this name, and only like this spelling. Sonya & Sonia are okay, but just don't look as nice to me at all. I think that most people know how to pronounce Sonja, so I don't think that there would be too much of a problem.

My godmother's name is Lorna and every other Lorna I've known has been a Filipina woman. I like it, but I don't think that I would ever name my daughter that.

The name has an exotic quality to it, in America anyway. People tend to pronounce it whichever way they please though. She pronounces it Sawn-ya ... but so many people pronounce it Sown-ya.

I work with a Sonja and I just asked her how often her name get's mispronounced. She said not as much as you would expect, most people realise what it should be (I am in Aus by the way). I definitely like it spelt with a j.

Lorna has a soft spot for me too, mostly becuae it's Scottish and I love Scottish things! It's a nice alternative to the ever popular Lauren and Laura.
I don't like the spelling Sonja and it would propably be mispronounced in the USA at least over & over again! Americans are often careless about pronouncing names and it would be son-ja quicker than you can blink an eye! I'd would pronounce it son-ya but I'm a name buff so I like to pronounce things how they are supposed to be pronounced! :)
So, because of that I would spell it Sonia because I think it's prettier. It's a nice name, I like it! :)
