Ida or Ada?
I like both of these brief, sturdy, pretty little names. I used to be sold on Ada, but now Ida seems refreshing and spirited to me too. Which do you prefer? Do you like either name at all?Combos? I'm terrible at pairing short first names up. I like Ida Pearl, and Ada Sylvia, but that's all I got.

Oh Ada Lovelace, so very... steampunk. She's such a great namesake and it's such a great name, so neat and palindromic and thoroughly feminine without being at all frilly. I keep forgetting about it, but I do love it so.
Ida is almost as good, it's got a kind of goddessy elegance and yet there's that song - 'sweet as apple cider' which makes me imagine it on a farmgirl, too. I prefer the eye-da pronunciation, it's less modern. Ada Augusta
Ada Alethea
Ada Beatrice
Ada Constance
Ada Winifred
Ada Aloisia
Ada Marion

Ida Rose
Ida Marguerite
Ida Clover
Ida Miriamedited to add: Ida Marie, because it is just so sweet

How do you pronounce Ida?
I prefer Ida with an ee, or Ada with an ah.

Eye-dah is my instinctive pronunciation of Ida, and Ada is Ay-dah (like the ay in hay)

Ada.Ida is so boring.

interestingthe Scandinavians seem to see Ida as pretty ho-hum... is it quite popular there? That actually makes Ida even cooler in my eyes.

I do love both, but I adore the combo Ada Frances, so I am going to say Ada. Ida sort of reminds me of Ida Ho. "No, HE da ho."

Ida - It seems refreshing to me too. Ada is nice but Ida is a beauty of a nameI'm not sure for combos but maybe something classic but more modern than the ones you suggest and a little longerI'd like something like Ida Natalie or Ida Rebecca

Ada. I really like Ada. Ida is nice on paper, but it just sounds too much like starting to say I'd have. Ida noticed it every time I called her name.

Ida is a way too popular and childish name. It's probably not as common in the US, but hereit's one of the most boring names I know. I like Ada a lot. But since I like Adelaide, Adeline etc also I would use Ada as a nickname. Ada Isabelle
Ada Noelle
Ada Louise
Ada Sophia
Ada Esmeralda
Ada Sapphire
Ada Emmeline
Ada Lucinda
Ada Madeleine
Ada Theodora

I actually like both and oddly enough, both are family names for me. I think I like the sound of Ida just a bit more.

Both are brief and sturdy, certainly, but I can't bring myself to think of either one as pretty.I was surprised to realize, a few months ago, that a youngish (about 30) coworker of mine is named Ida.Of the two, I would pick Ada. The long A rather than the long I makes it a little softer and a little more attractive.
