It's clunky and ugly, but in a charming way. I can't say that I don't like it. I kind of like it. Usually I prefer spellings that use more letters, but in this case, I think I prefer Maud. It reminds me less of a brash, outspoken, middle-aged woman who looks like Bea Arthur.
