I quite like the name Diana; it reminds me of my all-time heroine Wonder Woman. (her civillian name was Diana Prince)

I love the way Diana looks but I despise the 'die' beginning. I did meet a Latina woman several years ago who pronounced it dee-AH-na. Lovely.

I was a little surprised that there weren't more little Dianas out there named after Diana Spencer (especially after her death). Diane is more dated, though, and perhaps Diana is too close for comfort for most people. Or maybe they dislike the 'die' sound as well.

My strongest association with it is of Diana Barry from the Anne of Green Gables books. (She's one of my favorite characters from them.)

Yes, I think it's a very pretty name. My mom's name is Diane but she gets called Diana quite a bit. I also like the variant Deanna too.

Diana is actually my first name (Elizabeth is my first middle name, which I prefer, hence the screenname).

I've met a couple people with the name (including my husband's aunt) and most love it. I personally had quite a bit of trouble with it, possibly due to the popularity of Michael Jackson in my childhood (Dirty Diana haunts me to this day...). "Die-Diana" is also often used, though if one goes with the German/Dutch/Latin original pronunciation (Dee-ah-nah), which I tend to do these days, it cuts that out quite a bit.

Diana is my mother's name. I have only met two other Dianas, both are around 20 right now. I personally have always loved the name not just because of my mother but because it is such an underused classic.

I know a Diana ... well Dianna. Mid twenties. Super sweet. Its a beautiful name but it seems a bit "old" to me. Not like Eleanor old but more like Sharon old.

I love it. It has a really pretty sound, and it's Roman - hey ho for fair huntresses under the moon. I don't think it'll be popular here for a while though, because of the princess - too much tragedy and scandal and enormous annoying media circuses attached. It's a great name though and deserves reclaiming from all that.

It's the Di that gets me. Same with Dinah (which like Diana I like enormously) and Dian(n)e (which I don't enjoy). If there was a way to use Diana without hearing references to extinction, I'm sure it would get far more use. As it is, it's in strictly mn territory.

I guess I haven't really met any young Dianas (Dianna Agron from Glee, though!) so I think it is sort of dated. The Princess Di association doesn't really appeal to me. I only really like that it is a more usable form of Artemis, but I think I'd rather have a little Artemis than a little Diana. Granted, I'd have to be feeling pretty brave that day.

A girl at my school is named Diana, Diana Rose. but ACTUALLY her name is Dianna. oh it drives me mad. It is a beautiful wonderful sparkling name and wow do the two n's kill it.

You know, I see your point. I think if you named your baby Diana, it would most def be one of a kind in it'd generation! It's definitely a name that is seen more in the 50-60 year olds that I see. I bet that once 10 maybe 15 years go by people will be naming thier babies after thier grandmothers and Diana will pop back up.

For me, I think 80's. Like Jennifer or Amy. Although I know it's truly classic, it doesn't ring classic to my ears because of culture. :(

I do think it's pretty but it's hard for me to picture a sweet little girl named Diana. I don't picture an old lady either, just a middle aged person...?

It's weird that you posted this because I was literally thinking about this a few days ago! Diana's so beautiful. I think you don't hear it much right now because it's not quite "old lady" enough to seem "interesting" again. But I'm starting to think that that makes a name like Diana MORE interesting to use right now.

I like it. I think it's not popular because it's so close to Diane, and Diane is 50's dated. Diane is my middle name, and my mother, who was young and bearing children from the late 40's through the early 60's loved loved loved the name Diane. That's how dated Diane is, and the addition of an A doesn't make Diana different enough to escape the dated image. That's my opinion.

I loooove Diana. It's so pretty. My boyfriend has a friend named Diana - she's 18 or 19. I think she's the only young Diana I've ever met. (I know one other in her 40s.)

Diana Valentine is my favorite combo. But I love Valentine with just about everything.

I love Diana- so pretty. Our close family friends have a daughter named Diana who I grew up with. She has a twin named Danielle and a sister named Stephanie. I've always marveled at how lucky she was with her name when her sisters got such typical 80s names that were so popular in our age group.

A woman I know (here in the U.S.) named her dd Diana. She'd be about 15 by now. Lucky girl.

That's my aunt's name (she wasn't born with it though; she changed it.)
I like it because of the Artemis association, but I'm not really a fan of D names in general and Diana is not usually an exception. In the right combo I like it.
