The BAZZ-ul pronunciation is much better than BAZE-ul, that's for sure. And Baz is might cute. Basil, to me, has the same feel as Dashiell -- quirky cool and unconventional.
I'd picture him as someone who is very inquisitive, very intelligent without having to try too hard and basically very incorrigible! I'd give Basil a 7.
