I've liked this name for quite awhile, although I would probably only use it as a mn. I believe it's pronounced "Sa-rye-ah" but I don't know how crazy I am about that pronunciation. When I say the name it always comes out "Sa-ray-ah" first, haha. Has anyone ever heard it pronounced that way or is that just not good? I mean, I don't want to go around and change pronunciations that shouldn't be changed!

I knew a woman with this name. She pronounced it So-rye-ah.

I always say soh-RYE-uh (with a definite 'soh' or 'sur' at the beginning, not 'sa'.

I really like it. My mother used to know a woman who had a daughter called Soraya and she said it Sur-ay-ah. This was in Ireland by the way. I like Thurayyah as well.

I liked it a lot before I saw the movie "The stoning of Soraya M". It was the worst movie I've ever seen and I can't even think about the name Soraya without getting tears in my eyes. I still like the name but...all I can think about now is the movie.

My Aunt Soraya pronounces it "suh-RAY-uh."
