Alexis
WDYTO this for a boy? I've been thinking about it recently. I don't care much for the Italian variant Alessio, which is the one I'm more familiar with. Or has it made the cross-over as a female name. It's all right on girls too, I guess, though feels slightly tacky.

I'm just not crazy about Alexis at all -- for a boy or a girl. It sounds sort of pretentious, sort of like a taxonomic category, and sort of like the phrase "a Lexus." I just vastly prefer Alexander or Alexandra, either way with the nn Alex. I know you're not in the US, but here Alexis is definitely used as a girls' name and would sound feminine on a boy.
I really like it for a boy. I think it's nice for girls as well.
Not something I would use. I think its time has passed for a while. It seems like a 90s relic (either sex).
I love Alexis for boys, but it still seems more common for girls here, so I would be hesitant to use it. I saw a French Olympian today named that and I got excited seeing it on a guy. :-) It just seems too masculine for girls.
I think that it is really a girl name in the states. other than that I can't say... I don't oppose it on a boy but I can see alot of confusion here. Maybe Alexei is better for the US?
Alexis is a very popular boy name here in Greece but the truth is that when I see it written in English I always think of a girl, not a boy.
I do much prefer it on a male, but sadly in my area it is strictly feminine.
I've only ever heard it on girls, so I think it has made the cross-over. I prefer it on a boy, though, and it's one of my favorite names. You could use it as a nickname for Alexander or something of the sort, maybe, if you're worried?
I always think of girls.
I much prefer it for a boy. I like it, although I prefer Aleksi.
I only like it for a boy and prefer it spelled Aleksis.
