Joanna and Dinah
What do you think of Joanna and Dinah (seperately)? I use the DIE-na pronunciation for Dinah, but I've also heard dee-nah, which I don't care for. How do you pronounce Dinah, and do you like these names? Any combo suggestions would be nice. Thanks! :-)

Joanna is nice. I also like Johanna.I pronounce Dinah the same way as you. If I remember correctly, she was raped in the bible and then her brothers went into a frenzy of circumcision:( So yeah, I'd stay away from that name.

Joanna is ok, but has never been a favorite. Which is weird because I love Johanna. :b I like Dinah in theory but it just sounds very hillbilly-ish to me also. BTW, I pronounce it DIE-nah, too.

I pronounce Dinah as 'DYE-nuh' like you do. I'd assume 'DEEN-uh' was Dina, which I don't like much.Dinah is lovely and underused. I also love Diana :-)I suggest:
Dinah Bryony
Dinah Gabrielle
Dinah Leonie
Dinah Magdalen
Dinah Meredith
Dinah Mariel
Dinah Patience
Dinah Scarlet
Dinah Sophia
Dinah Summer
Dinah Valentine

I don't like Joanna, I tend not to like names with Anna on the end. I prefer just Anna by itself.
I pronounce Dinah DIE-nah. I quite like it but I don't think it's something I'd ever use.

I think Joanna is a simply lovely name! It's so pretty and feminine! Dinah is alright, not one of favorites but then in general D names aren't my favorite. I reminds me first of Dinah in the Bible (and I think there was some sexual scandal related to her), and then it makes me think of a kind, gradmotherly, African-American southern lady. So the name has good and bad connections for me. I always get it mixed up with Delilah which I also dislike because of the character of the woman with this name in the Bible. Isn't it funny how one bad accossiation could ruin the whole image of a name in your mind (take Adolph for example, almost everyone thinks of Adolph Hitler).

I think you are thinking of Delilah. I don't remember much about Dinah in the Bible, just that she was in the Old Test. somewhere, but I think she was innocent. lol

I love Johanna (yo-HAH-nah), too. :-)

I kind of like Dina (w/ this spelling) as long as it's pronounced "Dee-na". It's not a name I would use though. Dinah ("Die-na") always makes me think of that "Dinah, won't you blow your horn" song, which I detest. Joanna is a pretty name, but not one I would use. I definitely prefer it over Dinah though.
