I like Ira. I believe I asterisked the name.
I was just surprised that someone used it. The last person I know of that had it was Ira Gershwin!
And yeah, I miss her too.

I went to school with an Ira.I can't remember if I said this already, but I went to school with a kid named Ira, and he carried it well. Laid-back, blase kind of guy...not a whole lot seemed to impress him, but I mean that in a good way. Also, I recently overheard an expectant mother saying Ira was her #1 pick for her unborn daughter. I think that kind of sucks, because we need more boys' names ending with the -ah sound, IMHO. The girls have already taken too many.

My friend wants to name his daughter Ezra. His name is Tyler...I think he prefers his middle name, James, probably because it's older. When I said Ezra was a boys' name, he replied that it's been used for girls.
His siblings are Zachary, and I think Benjamin and Caitlin.
I think it was Sabrina Fair who also liked Ezra for a girl.

Ira is also a female name, short from Irina, Irena. It's common in Croatia and Russia, but pronounced 'EE-rah'.

I misread your comment "Ira? Really?" as one of sarcastic disgust.Ira Gershwin is awesome!
