Gloria...WDYT?
I'm still on a search for a girl name, and since I'm still TTC and have lots of time I would like to explore all my options. My mom's name is Katrina Gwyn, but she goes by Gwyn. (Ironic since we live in south Louisiana!)
My name is Gretchen. I was noticing that if I give my daughter a "G" name it would be three generations in a row. Is that a wierd idea?
So far I've come up with Gabriella. Two names that I found on the random name generator that I like are Gloria and Grania. (I like Grania in theory, but I'm not sure I could really name my child that.) So, what do you think? Any other ideas?
Thank you

I like Gloria a lot more than Gabriella/Gabrielle. One thing to consider would be using a G name as a middle name, like your mother. You could decide to call her by the FN or the MN later. Some thoughts...GAEA / GAIA

I love, love, love GRANIA! It is so much nicer than Gloria or Gabriella in my opinion. I prefer Gabrielle to Gabriella.

Gabriella is a great name, I happen to really love it. Gloria is also really pretty and you certainly don't hear it much on little girls these days, so that could be nice. Grace, Gracie, Gemma, Georgia and Giselle are also nice names that begin with G.

I was actually going to post about this name at some point. My middle school bus driver's name was Gloria. In thinking about her name (when I was 11 years old), it was the first time that I thought that names come in "cycles". I could totally see Gloria being brought back as a new trendy old name. Does that make sense?

Hmmm, I like a lot of G names so I might be able to help. :b BTW, I think it's a sweet idea but only if you find a G name that you LOVE; don't just use a G name that you sort of like to "fit" into the idea. Does that make sense? Also, I think Gloria is lovely, and Grania (Grainne) is nice in theory, I agree, but I don't love the sound of it. Some ideas:
Gaia (GUY-ah)
Gemma
Geneva
Genevieve
Georgia
Georgina
Georgianne / Georgeanne / Georgiana
Georgette - my mn
Giselle
Greta
Gwendolyn / Gwendolen
Gwyneth (for gm)

Thanks. I keep going back and forth. On the one hand I think it sounds fresh and new because it hasn't been used in so long. On the other hand I picture an old lady. How are you supposed to decide? I mean, giving a person a name is a huge responsibility. They are stuck with it for a long time, you know?

I like the family tradition thing. Gabriella - pretty with lots of nickname potential
Gloria - my aunt's name. Very old and dated. She doesn't even like it
Grania - not my style

Gloria is very pretty, though slightly dated depending on where you are; it's my aunt's name, and I would do a double-take if I saw it on a child--but that's not necessarily a bad thing.A few other G names: Galina, Ginevra, and Giselle (or Gisela). Edited for clarity.

That's really cool idea to name your daughter a G name! Gloria is beautiful!
Gabriella is pretty but fairly popular right now.
Grania is actually my favorite of these three! I love it and it's a form of Grace so that makes is extra special. I also love your name! Gretchen is such a cute sweet name!
I also like your mom's name Gwyn, have you thought of using that or something like Guinevere, Gwendolyn or Gwyneth?I think you're on a roll! :)

GraceSoft G names:
