I like Cynthia a lot and its definitely underused. I like Forsythia even more though. I don't consider it dated, because it did not become popular enough to have a strong decade association. That said, the Cynthia I know is in her mid-fifties. She doesn't go by Cindy. I think Cynthie is a cute nickname. Cit (like Kit), Thia, and Tia could also work.

Really? It was number 7! Hmm I think it doesn't sound too dated because most Cynthias went by Cindy.

Wow, you're right, 1957. Hmm, I still don't think it seems dated though. I've never really known any Cindy's either. My first thought with the name is often the mouse Cynthia in Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH so that might be part of my 'young' visual. That might seem strange, but it had quite a few great names so the association stuck.
