Bernadette?
Name I've been thinking about lately. I've always found it charming, but I've never really taken it seriously. Thoughts or combo suggestions?

I prefer Bernadine, but the Bern- sound isn't really pleasing to me.

Don't like it. It was so common here years ago as a tribute to St Bernadette that I only see it as dowdy and frumpy. Also one of the most annoying people I ever met was called Bernadette. I don't like Bernie either.

love it and hate itI love that it is never seen, I love the -ette ending paired with the more sever "Bern-" beginning. love the homey-frumpiness of it. It makes me think of gigham and pies and tree-shaded dirt roads and clapboard houses. love the possibility of the boyish "Bernie" or "Birdie" as a nickname (I knew a Bernadette-called-Birdie). I hate it out of principle because it's based on the name Bernard, which was my abusive father's name. Darn it! My familly is so anti-anything-related-to-Bernard that it's almost ridiculous.EDIT: combos!Bernadette Zoe
Bernadette Jane
Ruby Bernadette - YES
Chloe Bernadette - don't ask me, my brain just provided it
Bernadette Pearl
Bernadette Ava
Bernadette Amelia
Bernadette Eliza
Eudora Bernadette - ok, I love this
Daisy Bernadette
Bernadette Jemima
Bernadette Mabel
Bernadette June
Clara Bernadette - another fab one
Bernadette Maisie
Nora Bernadette
Opal Bernadette - like this too

Bernadette Salome is stunning! Salome is a name I tend to like when I see but never think of for myself (kind of like Bernadette), yet it meets my requirements -- pretty, sort of classic, and has a great positive meaning. It's like the quintessential me middle name possibility haha. Thanks! I also like Chloe Bernadette; I think that's another good balance of light and heavy. I also like how you gave yourself props heh.Sorry about your father.

I'm not so keen on -ette endings, and I must say I find it a bit "dusty".

dustyCould I please have a list of other dusty names you dislike? One man's trash is another man's treasure!! :D

My Mother-in-law is named Bernadette. I think it is rather heavy, but not a bad name, however I'm not fond of the unfortunate nickname she uses, Bernie. I like Bernadette as a middle name, paired with a first name that is lighter and more youthful for contrast such as:Sylvie Bernadette - I like that both names are French
Lucy Bernadette
Nora Bernadette

I tend to think of -ette names as light feeling, actually. Also, one of my very best childhood friend's loved this name, so I sort of associate it with that light-heartedness as well. I do agree that Bernis is not very attractive; I'd probably go with Etta or Ettie or something like htat. Sylvie Bernadette is really cute, thanks.

There wont be any her age, that's for sure. I think that if you like it you should go for it!

We're not expecting for a few years, but thanks. I like the idea that she won't be one of five in her class, though. :)

I don't really like the name that much. This name makes me think of the song from the '60's. Also by any chance do you watch Big Bang Theory, because one of the characters has a girlfriend name Bernadette that has been showing up.

Actually, I have seen the Bernadette on BBT. I love that show; I think it is hilarious. I have always liked the name, just never really considered it for myself. Hearing it more frequently (on BBT and other places recently, it's showing up everywhere these days) has probably put it in my mind more. It seems more feasible the more I hear it, and since I liked it to begin with, it has made me think... why NOT Bernadette?

Love it! It's so strong and studious, but strikingly beautiful. One of my favorite combos is Bernadette Fiorenza, although I'm not feeling that at the moment. I'd go more with something like:Bernadette Augusta
Bernadette Frances
Bernadette Louise
Bernadette Mairead - ooh, I really like this
Bernadette Rosemary
