A school friend of mine had a mother called Honor who explained that the Latin form was used for the name! I've certainly never seen Honor used as a name in the American context, and equally I've never seen the English use Honour. I'm more used to seeing Honor as a name for Irish women/girls.Is Jessica Alba, whoever she is, English or American?

Honor is the most usual spelling in the UK and has been for 100 years or so. I'm not exactly sure why, but suspect you're right that it's a way of distinguishing the name from the word - we don't seem to go in for word-names much here. Also, Honor Blackman (British actress) probably popularised it a bit.Nice to see Grainne! And unusual to see a parent called Tory in the UK - I wonder if she's American.
