Nelson
I saw a documentary on Mandela recently, and it got me thinking about the name Nelson. I generally don't like names ending in -on or -(s)on but I find Nelson doesn't sound so bad. Obviously Mandela would be a awesome namesake, then there's Horatio Nelson who's slightly less awesome but not terrible either.Any thoughts?

The nice thing is that you'd score twice, since Mandela got his Anglo fn from Horatio Nelson, suggested by a school teacher. And I know a white South African named Nelson as well; he's in his 60s.

I think Nelson is really, really nerdy, so no thanks.

I think it's oatmeal-tastic!It just sounds so wholesome, homely and cozy. Even though there is a bully Nelson on The Simpsons. Nelson reminds me of Homer, Howard, Norman... all names that put a sleepy smile on a my face. They sound so comforting and kind.

It's an old family name in my family, actually it's John Nelson. I like it quite a bit. A+ on the Nelson.

My favourite Nelson is the lovely (dead for 40-odd years) baritone, Nelson Eddy. I really, really like the name. I used to think it was nerdy, but now I see it has superbly handsome.

It seems to me to be very nerdy.I had a crush on a boy named Nelson in the fifth grade, though.
