Re: Flower names on boys
A) I was discussing why the name might work on males, not my personal opinion about itB) I was not asking for opinions on Oleander but merely providing an example of a flower name that I like on boys

It doesn't work on boys because...Flowers are supposed to be pretty, as are girls; Lavender, although with a masculine ending, is a flower name and if I'm not mistaken, "pretty boy" is still an insult in the US.

what happens then......if you are an ugly girl with a pretty flower name? There is only one honourable solution.Change your name to Harold.

If you're an ugly girl then you're blessed because it means your parents were looking out for your well-being.
And how could you say that?!? Saying it's only honorable to change your name to something ugly if you are?!? That's cruel, and mean, and you really shouldn't say that...I often get told I'm ugly (even though I'm not), and how do you think I'd feel if someone told me to change my name to Frankie? I'd be furious! Just like I am at you!
Harold's not even a girls' name!
My belief is that people should use the corresponding name for the corresponding gender so as not to cause confusion!
