Love the name Dexter and have done for years. The showtime show Dexter does put me off a little, because I don't like the show at all. On the other hand I think of the movie "High Society", with Bing Crosby's character being called Dexter and that makes me love the name all over again! So if I think of that connection, I'm all good.

I find Dexter to be really nerdy and not hip at all, probably because of Dexter's Lab. Lincoln and Dexter make an okay sibset. I kind of like Lincoln, at any rate.

I've never thought of the name as nerdy. I've always thought that it's really cool. I do think of Dexter's Laboratory but it doesn't bother me.
I know that my friend know someone named Dexter who has a brother named Benjamin.

It does have sort of a hipster vibe. But I find it hard to get over the Dexter's Laboratory association. And Poindexter. Both making the name seem very nerdy.

I like Dexter a lot! I used to think the same thing as you- nerdy. And now I'm in to it.
Dexter is kinda... gutsy and unexpected, but it's still familiar and I like that about it. I think 'hip' works, too. Bold, maybe?
Dexter's Labrotory kind of creeps me out because I really hated that voice, but that show was on years ago and didn't have much of an effect society. I think killer-Dexter is a bit of a put-off for some, but it's a cool show and a great character name, so I don't see it as harmful.

For Lincoln and Dexter... same thoughts on Dexter :o) but Lincoln isn't one I like, but I think they work well enough together.
