I don't know what it is about that name - yes, it has an air of "commonness" (or "tawdriness" even) about it, but I don't care one bit. It's one of my faves.
I know of no Rubys personally, but my friend does - a little 3 year old :)
I like it paired with more fussy, prim stuff, like:
Ruby Eleanora
Ruby Charlotte (though this might be "doubly tawdry", oh my)
Ruby Celeste
Ruby Winifred
Stuff like that :)
