I love Ruby. Some people here get a stripper vibe from it but I don't get that at all. I think it's very pretty. It also has the benefit of being very pronouncable and spellable, while not being that common (at least in the US). And there are some good songs about it :)

I LOVE the name Ruby and planned on using it, until I met my now DH, as we have a 4 1/2 year old niece with the name. She is the only Ruby I know, but here in Australia it's a popular name and has been for about the last 5-10 years. My niece is Ruby Isabella which I think is lovely, but I always planned on Ruby Mae, which is still my fave!

It's okay. It makes me think a posh little British girl. I've never met anyone with Ruby as a first name, but I knew a girl about my age who went by Ruby (it was her middle name).
