A friend of my mum and dad's died earlier in the year and his daughter in law just gave birth to his first grandchild. His name was Bill and if the baby was a boy it was to be named Will to honor him. Well the baby was a girl and still wanting to honor her poppy (an Australian name for grandfather for those of you who don't know), they named her, you guessed it, Poppy. I haven't heard her MN as yet.
What do you think? I think it's a nice way to honor her grandfather and it sounds really cute on a child but I can't really imagine it on a 30 year old.

I don't like it. There was a pair of young girls playing in the park the other day with their dad, and I overheard the younger's name, Poppy. I actually had the name on my list at one point, but especially now that I've seen it in real life, on a girl who wasn't exactly bubbly, it doesn't seem cool at all. It's sort of like the names Happy or Rainbow - too frivolous, too chirpy and adorable. I would not want to be named Poppy. I might name a cat that.

I really like Poppy and I see no problem with it on a 30 year old, or older for that matter. I've never got this whole 'won't age with them' thing lol

It's cute. I've heard of it used more in England than here in the States, but it could grow on one.
I'm sure when she's thirty there will be lots of women with names that we see as little girl names now, anyway!
