I like Kaia. I don't find it trendy or insubstantial at all. I would spell it the way you have it, Kaia. Your pronunciation guides are the same to me, since the long "i" sound is a dipthong, made up of "ah" + "ee." You've just interrupted the sounds in different places. If I were to write out how I would say it, it would be, "KIE-uh," but it's all the same to my ears. (I hope that made sense.)Everyone is scared that their new favorite name will become massively popular. Almost everyone is wrong. There are so many great names out there that I doubt very much Kaia will hit Emily status any time soon. Kai as a male name seems to have more potential to climb the charts than Kaia for a girl, but that's just a guess.
