Dorothy
I think this one might, just might be ready for a comeback. It's been a long time coming, but I think that day may have arrived.
Now I know many people here will opt for Dorothea, but I am more curious to know your opinions and combos for the name Dorothy.
In my family book, there are distant cousins, twins, named Dorothy and Theodora. Theodora did not live past infancy.
Dorothy Alice seems the most obvious combo, but I like Alice too much to use it only as a middle name.

Dorothy is a wonderful name. I love it and much prefer it to Dorothea, which I don't like at all.
My Dorothy-combo is Dorothy Wallis, but I think the following are splendid:
Dorothy Emma
Dorothy Anne
Dorothy Helen
Dorothy Esther
Dorothy Jane
Dorothy Pearl
Dorothy Lisette
Dorothy Jean
Dorothy Eloise
Dorothy Cecilia
Dorothy Frieda
Dorothy Wilma
Dorothy Frances
Dorothy Ines
Dorothy Eliza
As a middle name, how about Etta Dorothy?

Oh, I like these combos. I like Wallis, because I just found out I am distantly related to Ms. Simpson.
I don't like Dorothy. I am from Kansas, and the Wizard of Oz jokes are annoying based on that. I would hate to be named Dorothy. Beyond that, it seems frumpy to me. It's not one of those antiquated names that appeals to me. I think Dora and Dory might enjoy limited popularity, but Dorothy is still the name of lots of living old people and so I think it may be a while before it makes a comeback.
I'm not crazy about Dorothea either, but I have moderately positive feelings toward Dora and Theodora.

Dorothy over Dorothea for me. I'm quite fond of Dorothy, I'd be delighted if it made a good comeback. Dorothy is full of life, very spunky. Dorothy Alice is nice, but I think I'd rather see Dorothy and Alice as sisters than in one name.
I'm fond of Dorothy Jane, Jane's simplicity puts the spotlight on Dorothy.

I really like Dorothy, especially with the occasional nickname of Dory and/or Dottie.
I have a great aunt with the name (sister to my grandmother, Alice) and she's definitely a positive association for me. She's a wonderful, vivacious woman.
