My name is Siobhan. My mother tried to give us names that couldn't be nicknamed. Anyway my brother and my neighbour used to call me Vaun and Vaunie when we were little - it didn't stick though.
Some of my friends call me Shiv,Shev,Siv,Siobh,Siobhie,Shivers etc. I like it because it's a spontaneous gesture of affection. I don't think of myself as Shiv but I like when they say it. I get creeped out when people I don't know well shorten my name. My boss used to call me Siobhanín sometimes. I have gotten Siobhanín a few times, always from older men for some reason!
