I've never heard of Dionis / Dionys before. But I'd be very surprised if it weren't related to Dionysia, a favorite of mine. I pronounce Dionysia as, "dee-uh-NEE-see-uh," but I've also heard "die-uh-NIE-see-uh." Dionysius is also related. ("die-uh-NIE-see-us" or "dee-uh-NEE-see-us")They all are original forms of Denis / Dennis / Denise, I believe.To answer your original question, I'd guess that Dionis / Dionys was masculine. But that's a total guess.
