Kia
WDYT of Kia? I used to really like it, but I'm having doubts about it, because, as my brother pointed out, 1) Kia is the name of a kind of car and 2) KIA is an anagram of "killed in action". Do you think any of that stuff would ever be mentioned? Can you think of any good combos with Kia? Is Kia too short to be a legit name? What could it be short for, besides Kristina?

Neither of those associations are what come first for me. My first one is kea (prn the same) which is an alpine parrot native to NZ. They are very intelligent but they like to destroy people's cars lol. The second association is the fact that in Maori 'kia' is a part of speech, sort of like the imperative, eg Kia ora means 'be well'.Anyway! These don't really matter outside of New Zealand, but I still can't get to grips with it as a name, even though it sounds nice. I don't think it's too short to be a legit name (it's no shorter than Mia, Tia, Pia, or Gia, which are all used as full names). Other names is could be short for: Katarina, Keely, Kalliope, Kiri.

Thanks. That's interesting. I like parrots. :) Much better than the car associations.
I really like Kia as a nickname for Kalliope now.

I do think of the car, but I like it anyway because it is pretty and energetic, though I think it really should be a nickname. Besides Kristina, it could be short for Zakiah or Saskia.Combos:
Kia Helene
Kia Celestina
Kia Soraya
Kia Miriam
Kia Magdalene
