I really like Brendan. Brandon is nice too, but it was overused in the 80s and early 90s. I pronounce Brendan as BREN-dun and Brandon as BRAN-dun.

I pronounce Brandon (brahn-don)
And I pronounce Brendan (bren-din)

It is astonishing how much I prefer Brendan to Brandon. Brendan is so much more dignified and unpretentious than loud, brash, out-of-tune too-loud trumpet blare Brandon. I really like Brendan a lot, and can't stand Brandon.

Eh, I have a 20 year old brother with the name, I'm not on great terms with him though. He's not a jock though, probably the exact opposite of one. As for being trendy, Brendan to me is much more than Brandon though none of them seem trendy to me. They've both been around for awhile guys. If I was to name my kid one of the two without having a brother named Brandon, I'd probably pick Brendan because I like softer sounding names (i.e. Soren, Gabriel, Vincent, Rafael, etc). However I don't have a problem with the name Brandon. I'm glad you're not spelling it Brandan like I've seen once or twice.

I do pronounce them differently (especially the first syllable), and I greatly prefer Brendan. Brandon is harsh and unattractive to my ear.

My name is Brandon, and I am glad that it is Brandon and not Brendan. I do not really consider my name to be trendy, but a new name with classic potential. Many of the other Brandons I have met have also been very agreeable characters as well.

I pronounce Brandon and Brendan how they are spelled. Brandon is too trendy, IMO, so I prefer Brendan.

Brendan! Unfortunately I've come to love this name because I've met such a great Brendan, and that even though I hate names that start with Br-. I agree with queenv that Brandon has always seemed like trying too hard to be macho to me. Same with Jordon, Brion, etc. It just seems unneccessary. I do pronounce them differently. Brendan sounds much softer to me while Brandon feels really ugly in my mouth.

They are totally different names and should be pronounced differently. I love them both. Very slightly prefer Brendan as I am Irish-American and have a cousin named Brendan. They're both very handsome.

Yes, I do pronounce them differently. I prefer Brendan. It seems more like a real name, with a real pedigree, and not so trendy as Brandon. Brandon also seems more like it's trying too hard to be macho.

In elementary school one of my best friends was named Brandon. He was one of the nicest guys ever, which was surprising because he was a jock. He was the only guy in my 1st grade clique, because he was so nice and because he hung around me.
