I don't mind the Italian pron - Ro-may-oh, but I strongly dislike the standard english pron of Ro-mee-oh.
It's fine for a pet, but I dislike it for a person. Roman is nice though.

I disagree that its tacky. I think its a nice classy & spunky name.

I don't understand why people like it. Honestly it's not even that romantic a story. Romeo falls for the forbidden fruit, acts like an idiot, gets his friend killed, kills a relative of his little tartlet, and then is too dumb to realise that his wife isn't actually dead, leading her to commit suicide.
