Nora?
What do you think of this name? Is it too old lady? My grandmother's name is Norma, which is way too old lady for me but to honor her I thought Nora might be nice... How do you picture a Nora? ----Betsy-----

I've only known one Nora, so that's who I picture--little mousey girl, somewhat spoiled.

I like it. What about as a nn for Eleanore? It seems somewhat unfinished to me, though I think it's very pretty. And I'm a sucker for using a name to honor.:)

I agree that it can sound nicknamey and unfinished, but since I'm trying to honor Norma, Eleanore with the nn Nora seems a bit too far off. I am trying to get into loving it on its own... :)----Betsy-----

I love Nora-it's on our list. We have two Irish Noras in the family. I picture a fair skinned, pink cheeked beauty with this name. :)

I know that Nora is a full name in it's own right, but I prefer it as a nn for Eleanor."No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

Nora is a nice, Irish, homespun sounding name. I like it.

I like Nora. It's a graceful name, but it has spunk. I picture Nora as the kind of person who would rather have long-stemmed lilies than roses.Arcadia

It's just an object. It doesn't mean what you think

I like it spelt Norah, whenever I think of this name I always think of Norah Jones the singer, I aslo knew a girl who spelt her name Noora.

I LOVE the name Nora. I think it's old-fashioned but very refreshing, as well pretty.

Nora is one of my favourite names. It is SO not old lady. I think it oozes elegance, intellect and charm and would be a perfect way to honour someone named Norma. My personal favourite Nora combo is Nora Eulalie.

I LOVE the name Nora. I had wanted to use it for this baby on the way, but hubby axed it. I think Nora is just one of those names that fits wonderfully on a baby and young child and can also grow with the child into adulthood.

I love the name Nora! I know a girl about 22 years old with this name and it does not seem old lady to me. I picture a girl who is very sweet and feminine.

Well, I AM a Nora so I am a bit biased. I really like my name. It is classic but a little different, easy to spell and pronounce. It is also common to a lot of different ethnic backgrounds so I often get serenaded by Egyptians and Irishmen alike.
