That doll isn't NEARLY as well known as the Barbie doll.
Good point.
Omg hope that short for Barbara
Oh, it's not all that bad. I'm sure it's just a nickname for Barbara or something.
I hope to God it is lol
I don't really like it, but I'm used to it. I used to work with a lady named Barbie (she's around 40). Despite my dislike for the name, she at least gives it a good association.
I don't like it.
I can't see naming a child Barbie. The doll is too well-known, and I think that the doll has given the name an "airhead" image, despite Mattel's later efforts to correct it.
Besides, it's too nicknamey on its own. It should be a nickname for Barbara, and Barbara is one name I really despise.

It's dated... and little to dated for my taste. I'm not a big fan of anything 'Barbara' related.
Eh.
As long as she has Barbara to fall back on if she wants to, I don't see a problem.

That's the thing. She doesn't.
Well, actually, I know Barbie. It's not a nickname. She's told me that, unless she was lying, which is a pretty easy thing to do...
I've just never seen it before. Except on my dolls.

The doll is named after the creator's daughter, nicknamed Barbie.
And Ken is after the creator's son.
Awkward :D
