Wren for a boy?
So, what do y'all think of Wren as a first name for a male child? I'm loving it at the mo', and to me it works because it's a bird name and birds come in both sexes, but I'm interested in your thoughts. :]
Any mn suggestions?

Thanks everyone!
I appreciate all your thoughts. I'm pleased with the over all response, so thank you very much. :)

well........sure!
Hmmm.....I never thought of it as a boy's name before, but I think it could work. It is a very quiet and soft-sounding name to me so that's why I associate it with femininity, but there's no reason why it can't be used as a boy's name...it doesn't end in any stereotypical "girl's sounds" (ette, ina, ella, ia, etc.) so....yeah! I would probably use it as a female name, but the possibility of shifting it to the boy's team is definitely there.
PS: I had to giggle at your reasoning - "to me it works because it's a bird name and birds come in both sexes" - that was adorable! (seriously, not making fun!)

Hm... COULD work, but...
...I don't want another name "to go to the boys", or vice versa. It could definitely work, but I'm pretty fine with the amount of unisex English names at the moment, so I'm not keen on just another one.

I think of Christopher Wren
So it's masculine to me.
Plus I fully admit to be loving Robin for a boy at the moment and I would be a serious hypocrite if I said it Wren was only feminine. :-D
In all honestly Wren is a both a male and female name to me. I think it's fine for both and a boy Wren would be cute.

I don't think of it as a boys' name. It sounds too feminine.
I don't like it
...but, to me, word names aren't automatically unisex just because they're words. I actually get a distinctly feminine vibe off Wren, both because of the daintiness of the little songbird and my associations--the littlest daughter from the comic Baby Blues and the only IRL Wren I know, a 10-month-old girl. I really like Wren for a girl, perhaps as a mn.
If I wanted this sound for a boy, I think I'd opt for Ren.

I don't like it on either gender, to be honest. I'm not sure why, but it comes off as a whiny name to me. Can you imagine getting after a child with this name when he or she spills milk or something? "Wreeennnnnn!" *shudder*
I like it! Too me it's a very strong name.
I don't see why not. That was the name of the main character in Footloose, though I think it was spelled Ren. Sounds the same, though, so I think it's fine. I can see it working equally well on both genders.
I prefer as girl mn
I think it's fine [m]
it's a bird, so it's automatically unisex to me. I prefer it on a boy myself.

Yay!
You're the first person I've talked to who said as much. It doesn't sound particularly feminine to me, but everyone I know irl thinks it does. :(

I don't care for it on a boy. It seems very feminine to me. I do really like it for a girl, though.
