Bonnie
"Speed, bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing, Onward! the sailors cry. Carry the lad that's born to be King, over the sea to Skye." I can remember my mother singing that song. *happy memories* :) More to the point, what do you think of the name Bonnie? Do you think it would work as a stand alone name, or does it sound nickname-ish? What do you image a girl called Bonnie to be like? What kind of personality would she have, and how would she look and act? Thank you. :)

We had to sing that song at primary school - it was part of a rainy day repertoire when sports were cancelled. It's a lovely song.
There was also "My bonnie lies over the ocean ..."
I think Bonnie is fine as a name but I'd choose a classic mn for it.

I love the name Bonnie Jean!
I don't think of Bonnie as a nickname, but rather as a name in its own right. I really dislike it. I picture a Bonnie as being rather homely and having bright carroty red hair, because my sister was friends with a girl named Bonnie who fit that description.
Bonnie is a name that I just can't figure out why anyone would use.

I've known a couple of Bonnies-- probably one is about 30 now and the other is in her early 20s. Both were lovely young women with dark hair and vibrant personalities.
It's not really my style for a name, but it is sweet.

I like Bonnie. Bonnie is definitely light, but it has enough history that I think it can be used on it's own. I've known a couple Bonnies, and it hasn't been short for anything. No, wait...I also met one ancient Bonnie who was really a Bonita.
I picture a Bonnie as bouncy and creative. I think she could look like anyone.

I've always kind of liked Bonnie. It's definitely a stand-alone name to me. I actually knew a Bonnie growing up. She was sort of athletic and outdoors-y, but still feminine. A natural beauty type. She was very kind and sweet, too.
