What do you think of the name Shirley. Do you think its too dated to use or what?

It's my mom's name and she was named after her aunt. It was a bit dated in my mom's generation and she doesn't like her name. I'm not so fond of it myself.

I like it and I wouldn't mind seeing it on a child. It sounds bright, just as the meaning implies.

I hate it. I had a horrible stepmother named Shirley when I was growing up, so this name is forever tainted because of her.

I don't like the name. I just can't get past its ugliness, even though I love the awesome Shirley Manson from the band Garbage. She hasn't changed my opinion on the name.

No. Absolutely not. All I can think of is Shirley Phelps-Roper.

It reminds me of my sister-in-law, whose name it is. She's not a bad person, but she is an annoying one. So I associate Shirley with a loud screechy voice. It's definitely dated. I don't care for it much, though I don't think it's horrible.
