Xander
I am thinking about this for my son. I just want to know if it'd be ok to use Xander as a full name or if I should name him Alexander nn Xander. The thing is I don't really like Alex and I'd be worried everyone would call him that (though I guess if I introduced him as Xander people would call him that anyway). I haven't run it by Grant yet but a few months ago I mentioned Alexandra for a middle name for a girl (I told him it would honour my mum) he said it didn't sound like a bad idea so maybe I can get him on board with Xander or Alexander nn Xander. My mum's name is Sandra and I'd like to honour her and I thought Alexander or Xander would be a good idea, though Skye's initials are the same as my mum's anyway so I guess it might not matter if I DON'T honour her with this baby. What do you think of these combos?Alexander Leo or Xander Leo (Leo is after my grandmother, Leonie)
Alexander Michael or Xander Michael (I don't like Michael, but Grant does)
Alexander Alan or Xander Alan (Alan after my grandfather, its also my dad's middle name)
Thoughts?

I don't like Xander on its own at all, though it's a cool nn for the gorgeous Alexander. I don't think people automatically will call him Alex, unless he's the one who wants to be called that.

Alexander Leo nn Xander would be my pick. As others have said, if he's introduced as Xander, he's not going to get Alex. There's a kid down the street named Xander, he's about ten and it suits him wonderfully. It's his full name.Alexander's pretty common, and Xavier's getting pretty popular as well. I think Alexander will always be classy, though, and Xander will always be spunky.

Alexander is a handsome and strong name. If you introduce him as Xander, Alex won't be an issue.
I love Alexander Leo, I've been hoping Leo would reappear on your list! Alexander Michael would be a good compromise, though it has less personality than Alexander Leo.

I don't really like Xander on its own. I much prefer Alexander nn Xander and I don't think you will have people calling him Alex if you introduce him as Xander.Alexander Leo and Alexander Michael are both handsome combos. I don't like the repeated Al- in Alexander Alan

I think Alexander Leo is a very handsome combo. I would prefer Xander as a nn. In fact I, too, prefer it over Alex. I don't see him being called 'Alex' if you introduce him or people know him as Xander.

As I am not very fond of Xander, but love Alexander, I would definitely use Alexander as a full name and use the nickname Xander.I don't think everyone would start calling him Alex, unless he told them his name was Alexander. You can get around this...just use the names Xander on forms, etc. My friend does this so she doesn't get called Katherine or Katie. Alexander Leo is my favourite of the combos. Alexander Michael / Xander Michael is rather boring and it doesn't appear to have a special meaning to you like Alan or Leo does (unless there's a special meaning for Grant). Alexander Alan is too alliterate, while Xander Alan is a tad better.

I adore Alexander and Alexandra. Xander is a cute nm, but I am not sure if it would age well. Why not go with Alexander and let him choose, but just use Xander when you talk to him. I like Sasha too as a nm.
