Mirren
in reply to a message by Sofia
There's been discussions before, but no real consensus for it's sudden rise in popularity. There's Helen Mirren yes but I can't see her surname being a major influence on the first name, and there's also a football team called St Mirren, but imo 'Bravehearts' sweetheart Murron is a more likely influence for it's use as a girls first name. It also fits in with a general trend among the 'professional' classes I'll call them, for overtly Scottish names - hence all the Finlays, Anguses, Ceitidh's etc. It really should be added to the database in the next update, it's so popular here.

InterestingIt seems such a random last name and then to be so popular for girls without a celebrity/TV push.

It's not actually a last name at all, Helen Mirren's real surname is Mironov!

I know:-) And I actually like her 'real' name better, Ilyena Vasilievna Mironov sounds very regal.
