Annie
WDYT of Annie? Can it work as a full fn, or should it just be a nickname? I can see it on somebody of any age, but I'd love others' opinions. Also, any sibling ideas?

I personally think it can be a full name and it does age well imo.

Yes, I think it does work as a full name. I have a great aunt named Annie Keturah, and I have always loved the name. I would consider Annie myself, but my last name ends with -ni and it just doesn't work.

I think it could maybe work, but why would you when there are so many gorgeous full name options? Then you'd get the lovely full name, with the adorable nickname, two names for the price of one!My favorite Annie names:

I prefer it as a nn for Anneliese.

I feel differently about Annie than you since I can't see it on someone of any age. To me, Annie is either a little girl or an old woman but seems to have no middle age. Because of this, I much prefer Annie as a nickname to one of the many longer Ann- variations. If Annie is used as a full name, the best sib names I can think of are Gracie and Jack.

I have a relative, age 26, always called Annie. (Formal name, Anne.)
Her brother, for what it's worth, is Michael.

I prefer Anne or Anna over Annie. Annie reminds me of red-headed orphans (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I love Annie, but only as a NN. I prefer a more formal given name. Anne is nice, but I would use it as a NN for Anneliese if I were to use it. There is a whole score of Ann- names to choose from, so I'd find one you like and use Annie as the NN.

I prefer Anna as the full name. Annie is probably ok on a little girl, but it honestly sounds much more dated to me than Anna.

It can definitely work as a full first name, and I wish it had been my name. I enjoyed being called it in one of my classes last year, by people who had no idea my name was Anna. I think it's cute but ages reasonably well, and sounds well enough with the title Dr. in fromt of it. I think Patrick would make a good brother and Rebecca "Becca" would make a good sister.
