Alexa is fine, although I prefer Alexia. (My cousin's name is Sabina Alexia, and I got to choose Alexia vs. ALexis for her.) If you're honoring an Alexander, why not use Alexandrine, which is far less known, and use Alexia as a nn?http://babynames.com/namelist/9697577

It sounds like the name of some snobby, spoiled, popular girl, sorry.I absolutely love Alexandra though. I'd use that if you want to honor an Alexander.

I really like Alexa, but I like it moreso as a nickname for Alexandra, although I think it is fine on it's own. It is great for honoring Alexander.

I've always liked the name Alexa - I actually wanted it to be my name when I was younger. I have a friend named Alexa, she's a cool chick. I really dig the name and it works if it's honoring Alexander.

I prefer it as a nickname for Alexandria or Alexandrina.
"Alexa" is how Alexis is pronounced in French, and it is a males name.
However if your spelling the name Alexa, it seems very feminine for a boy.

It's an alright name and it does work for honoring Alexander. I prefer Alexia, however.

I like it, both on its own and as a nickname for Alexandra.

I much prefer it as a nickname for Alexandra. Although, tbh, I'm not a fan of any nickname for Alexandra, they don't do it justice.
