Elizabeth and her many nicknames
First, let me start with my story. Elizabeth is a name my unmarried older sister by about 10 years had planned on using for a future daughter. (many years ago) After I got married eight years ago she let me have Elizabeth and Katherine, both of which she declined giving our older sister to use. This name has meaning for me I guess you could say. So, what are some of your favorite nicknames for an Elizabeth in the 21st century? Anything but Liz, is welcomed.

Liz and Lizzie are my faves, next I guess would be Eliza.
Anything but Beth...I can't stand Beth.

My favorite is Bette, pronounced like bet. I like a few others, but Bette just seems perfect to me.

Lizzy is my favorite, but I also love Betsy and Eliza. I don't like Beth.

Definitely LizzyElizabeth is also a consideration of my own. I would normally spell it Lizzie, but since my mother went by Suzy (Susannah) and I would LIKE to have a daughter called Teddy (Theodora), I would keep the "y" tradition running.I like Elizabeth Anna.

I have really warmed to Bess over the years. A great lady from my town recently passed away and that was her nickname. It is also my boyfriend's sister's nickname.

I love Elise as a nickname. Not many seems to think of that one though. However I prefer th spelling Elisabeth. But for Elizabeth you could always go with Elize, Eliza, Elisa, Liza, Zab, Zabby?

The only nickname I really love is Lizzie which I prefer to Elizabeth anyway. It conjours up images of Lizzie Siddall, the Pre-Raphaelite artist and model and also Elizabeth Bennett (who was Lizzy).I don't mind Beth and Eliza is now growing on me. Bethan is a Welsh diminutive and a nice alternative.

I like Eliza (pro. Eleeza), and Beth is alright. Ellie could work as well. I don't care much for most of the other nns, I think it's a beautiful name that can stand alone.

What's wrong with Liz?IMO, Anything besides Liz, Eliza, Beth, Betty or Libby is too much of a stretch. Why would you call your little Elizabeth Elise? or Lily?
Most of the other "nicknames" here are names in themselves, and I think it's odd to call them "nicknames" of Elizabeth.I understand they may be originally derived FROM Elizabeth, but it stilll seems really odd to me.

Buffy=PLilibet is nice for a little girl, or (from) a significant other. It's almost like a term of endearment. I also like: Bette | Elle | Liza | Veta | Zsa Zsa | Belle | T/Izzy | Ibbie | Ilsa | Lilo | Lise
