Louis or Lewis?
Which is your preference? Personally, I favor Louis, because it looks more classical, and has the possibility of being pronounced in the French manner, which is how I would pronounce it.Lewis is nice also, and I usually like anything with a "w" in it, but it seems more like a surname to me due to association, and the "lew" part seems weaker than "lou." It is a tough call though.

I agree with you. Lewis is too surnamey for me which means middle only (for me). Louis, especially as lou-ee, is gorgeous!

Lewis is on my PNL but I like it spelt Louis as well. I normally like French male names but I don't like the sound of Louis pronounced the French way in English.

Lewis because it looks so beautifully Scottish (Isle of Lewis)And I prefer the "lew" part to the "lou" part, looking at both names. I just prefer how Lewis looks.

LewisI don't know why, but Louis to me is always pronounced the French way, even though I know it's not always pronounced that way and I really don't like the sound of Loo-ee. x_x

Ditto.I don't like LOO-ee, but I am rather partial to just Lewis, sound-wise. Also, in my mind Louis is obnoxiously aristocratic whereas Lewis is a bit scrappier. The latter has more character and strength, IMO.
