Is "Shy" a bad nickname for a child?
So I really like the name Elsa Cheyenne at the moment and I'd most likely call her Cheyenne which I pronounce shy-ANN. I'd like Chey (pronounced like Shy) as an occasional nickname because I think it has a sweet sound. I'm just wondering if that would influence her whole personality. I don't know but if I always called her Shy would she assume that it's what I wanted her to be or something? I know this might be silly but I'm just wondering...Elsa Cheyenne "Cheyenne" or Cheyenne Elsa?

Not at allI think that Shy is a rather nice nn for Cheyenne, I would use it if I ever had a daughter named Shiloh and it seems like not necessarily the kind of nn you would use all the time but a good occasional thing.

I don't think it would necessarily influence her personality, but it might be annoying for her if she is either shy or outgoing. If she's shy, it might be embarrassing for her to be called Shy, and if she's outgoing, she might get annoyed by people teasing her and saying, "How come you're called Shy? You're not shy!" Then again, it might not bother her at all. Annie seems like a safer bet as a nickname for Cheyenne.I prefer Elsa Cheyenne, but if she is going to be called Cheyenne all of the time, I think you may as well just name her Cheyenne Elsa. I'm not really a fan of people calling their children by their middle names, but if the way Elsa Cheyenne flows really bothers you, it wouldn't really be that big of a deal if she went by her middle name. It's not that uncommon for people to do that.

I usually really dislike calling a child by her middle name as well. I just can't stand the way Cheyenne Elsa sounds and Elsa and Cheyenne are both honoring so I definitely want to use them both.

I know a Cheyenne nn'ed CheyIf you nn Cheyenne, don't spell it Shy, spell it Chey. That will eliminate the dreaded "shy kid" stereotype. No one likes to be called "shy", but if it's Chey, or something like that, it's not really "shy".Elsa Cheyenne flows well. =)
