Kayla/Kaila
I've fallen in love with the horribly trendy, popular, tacky, slightly meaningless Kayla. I don't know why but it really appeals. I thought about using Kaila instead, since that actually has some history but I'm not sure. Your thoughts? Care to sway me one way or the other?

My cat's name is Kayla, but I didn't pick it. The shelter named her that, probably to go with her liter-mate, Layla. I was so excited and overwhelmed at the time (first pet, after years and years of begging for one) I heard the name and said "Yeah, that's good, I'll keep it." even though I wasn't really keen on it. Good associations have caused it to grow on my quite a bit. I think Kaila looks nicer, with the straight vertical lines and only "a's."

Kaila seems slightly less porn star-y and/or dog's namey (don't know why, but I have met a LOT of dogs named Kayla!)

I have always disliked it.

I think in Yiddish Kaila is pronounced KY-la, so you should either pronounce it that way or not use it at all. I kind of like Kaila.Kayla on the other hand is just way too trendy and overused. I think it has a very childish, immature sound and I never got its appeal. Can I interest you in Layla? Or Kaia?

Kaila pronounced that way isn't bad...I think it's probably just a passing phase, like I had once with Madison and Aidan. Layla and Kaia don't really appeal..
