Leni
I've always liked it a lot, despite the Leni Reifenstahl connection. I think it's simple, but strong and feminine. Any opinions or combo suggestions would be appreciated. :)

I think it isn't a very nice or even appropriate name in English-speaking countries. How would you even pronounce it? LAY-nee? LEE-nee? I must say, I only like the name - and like it very much - in German-speaking or Scandinavian countries, where it would be pronounced LEH-nee without an accent and would fit in the type of names used there. Yes, I like the name. But I still wouldn't use it for my own daughter because it has got a very childish touch to it. The -i ending isn't THAT common in Germany (where I live) for full first names. It is a nickname ending. So when I hear or read Leni, it is a nickname for a little, cute girl with pigtails to me. And I would want my children to have names that sounds more mature.. a little more mature. But I would like to see the name on another child or teenaged girl, even on a woman. But not on my own child.

I think it's terrible and way too cutesy as a full name. Do it like Heidi Klum and name her Helene, nn Leni. Or Helen/Helena/Elena/Lena etc

Blergh.Leni is probably one of the most cutesy, sickening, immature, trendy names to ever grace the popularity charts of Germany. No offense, but I'm incredibly sick of hearing it. It's so overused. Anyway, here are some combos I've seen. Not necessarily saying they're great:Leni Sophie
Leni Charlotte
Leni Marie
Leni Emily
Leni Evelina
Leni Jolie
Leni Paula
Leni Anouk
Leni Louisa
Leni Rosemarie
Leni Martina
Leni Gerd
Leni Edith
Leni Laura
Leni Elisabeth
Leni Thea
Leni Amalia
Leni Mireille
Leni Fabienne
Leni Johanna

That's funny......In the U.S., it would be a unique name; I know I've never met anyone named Leni. Funny how one country's Emma or Caitlyn is another country's Persephone or Evelina. :)

omg are you saying that you know all those Lenis? It must be incredibly common right now. Leni Gerd is hilarious.

Could it be a nickname for something?

Yes.They say it is a NN for Helene or Magdelene. I just prefer Leni, though (and I'm not even one who likes NN's over full names, but whatever).
