Ofer and Amos
I discovered Ofer recently, WDYT? I like a lot of Hebrew names, but this one not so much, the "of" sound is unpleasant. Also, I've been thinking about Amos, which would honour one of my favourite authors, Amos Oz. I'm not sure I like it enough to use as first name though. For some reason, it feels a bit like a "fat" name.

I don't think I like Ofer. I want to like it but I can't get the word offer out of my mind. I like Amos. I think it is one of those lazy front porch sitter type of names. I picture a black man in his rocking chair drinking lemonade. I really like it.

I'm not sure how English people would normally pronounce Ofer, as it is not so common that I think everyone would pronounce it the same way.
If it's OFF-er, it's just gross ("offer", obviously), if it's O-fer, with a good, round "oh" at the beginning, I can't say I'd like it the more for that because it sounds a bit weird. I kind of like the spelling, though.Amos, on the other hand, is a name I'm madly in love with and have been since about two years, I guess. It's just a name I would always use, but that I don't think about all the time. It's kind of a classic for me. I love the sound and look of it, and I don't find it is a "fat" name at all. What do you even mean exactly by "fat"?

Ofer makes me think of the word "offer". Also the German word Opfer, which means "victim". I really like Ophrah, though. Sad it has that TV-connection. Fr-names have always been my weak place.Amos was a long time on my PNL, but then I got tired of it. Still it feels like a very elegant, nicely eccentric name. Also very thin, maybe because I've known an Aamos who's extremely slim and tall. :) In your position I'd just wait and let the time show, do you truly like it.

I don't care for either one. Both seem a little 'goofy'
