Middle Names for Abigail
Hi everyone,
Since the last time I posted, I found out I was having a girl. We have decided on the first name of Abigail, and we will call her Abby for short. (That name wasn't even on my long list in the beginning so it's funny how things work out! I love it.)
I am due in 4 weeks and we are thinking of middle names. I guess my naming style would be somewhat "traditional" or "classic".
Future siblings (potential) names: If we have a boy in the future, we would like to name him William Hollis and would most likely call him Liam. (Hollis is my husband's grandfather). If we had another girl, I would love for her to be Penny Margaret (if my husband comes around on that one!)
So here are my thoughts....WDYT and any suggestions?
Abigail Elizabeth - my mother's name, and husband's grandmother's name. Very pretty, it just seems long though. We have a long last name (3 syllables)
Abigail Margaret - again, pretty but seems long. And I would like to pair it with Penny one day, if I had another girl.
Abigail Mavis - my grandmother's middle name and I love it, so please don't be too cruel :). My hubby isn't too crazy about it but he is willing to let it grow on him.
Abigail James - would do it in a second if I didn't think my family would hurt me for giving her a "boy's" middle name. I love this name for both sexes.
Abigail Jane - probably my attempt to sound like James
Abigail Meredith - just like this one

Abigail Mavis!
It's absolutely adorable and puts a different spin on Abigail. Mavis is a sweet name and I love the honouring. It flows beautifully, and isn't too long, which you're concerned about.
I really urge you not to use James, because, yeah…it's a boy's name.
The others are nice but don't totally pop out at me. Abigail Elizabeth is really overdone, I think, though of course it's honouring so you might want to use it anyway. Abigail Margaret is nowhere near as cool as Penny Margaret (also have you considered Penny as a nickname for Penelope– Penelope Margaret?), though it's quite nice. Abigail Jane and Abigail Meredith are nice, but…Abigail Mavis. Abigail Mavis is the winner in my opinion.
Abigail Jane is my second choice.

Ditto everything. Abigail Mavis FTW!
Ooh, go with Abigail James! It's awesome, who cares what your family thinks? It's your baby, not theirs! I don't like James for a boy, but it's awesome for a girl. I've seen it used on a girl also spelled Jaymes.
My uncle's wife/girlfriend/whatever the hell they are right now used Abigail Joyce. That's pretty too!

I love Abigail! It would likely be the name if we were to have a second daughter (we have Margaret picked for a first one). I personally would use an honoring name as a middle name, so I'd lean towards Abigail Elizabeth or Abigail Mavis. I don't think it'd be too long a name, and I love Elizabeth. But it is a rather common middle name, and Abigail is a rather common first name, so I think it'd be a bit nicer to go with a more uncommon middle name. So I guess Abigail Mavis is a winner. I do think Mavis is pretty, although I'm not crazy about it.
But oh, Abigail Meredith is lovely!

My favorites:
Abigail Mavis - Really neat, and it's different
Abigail Jane - I would much prefer you to use this rather than James. I find James to be super masculine and unattractive on a girl
Abigail Meredith - I adore Meredith!
My choice, would be Abigail Mavis. Like I said, it's different and very pretty, and it honors which is a definite plus! Congrats btw!
