This has been on my list for a long time. However I'm still not sure whether it's usable or not. I've met quite a few dogs (and other animals) with the name and all of my friends absolutely hate it. They say it's childish and immature and not a good name for a human being.
I understand that it's a bit cutesy but it never bothered me. I don't think that
Daisy is any worse than
Lily,
Gracie or
Zoe.
What do you think? Is it usable as a first name or is it too cutesy?
Oh and please don't suggest
Margaret nn
Daisy as I absolutely do not want that. I have very bad associations with
Margaret and dislike it in general.
Marguerite is better but still not for me. I also dislike anything else it could be short for so it would be
Daisy as a full name or not at all.
The other thing is that I usually prefer long, feminine, in A ending girls names, my favorites being
Estella,
Aurora,
Cecily,
Adelaida,
Elinor and
Juliet and I wonder if a
Daisy would feel weird between all those grown up, mature names.
I love it so much but I don't want to settle my child with a super cutesy name that she will dislike when she is older so I need your advice.
Oh and it has been used by
Scott F Fitzgerald for The Great Gatsby and
Benjamin Button, does anybody know why he named two of his characters
Daisy? Just a bit curious.
Also do you think it will rise in popularity? Maybe even get as common as
Lily?
Do you know any little Daisys? dogs or kids?
