I do NOT think it's ready for a comeback. It's still terribly dated. I wish it hadn't been so annoying popular in the 1970s and 80s, because it really could be a sweet flower name instead of a stereotypical bimbo name. :-/ I disliked my name growing up because it was so popular, but I was still usually the only one in my class (most of the Heathers I know are 2-5 years younger than myself), but now, I'm one of 4 at work on nights + another one on days. *sigh* It's annoying that I've spent a lot of my life being Heather S., but just another reason why I really dislike overused names.

Though otherwise a rather neutral meaning in my books, it has the unfortunate association with the movie "Heathers"... That was just wierd. If you haven't watched it, I don't recommend it.

I know two Heathers. My mum, 45, and another aged 13.

I'm surprised so many people were for it because I thought this name had a strong "1980's Valley Girl" association. Once you get past the, well, "Heathers" image, it's quite nice sound and meaning. I could see it making a comeback once this generation of Heathers is older -- maybe 20 years.

I kind of like it. The only people that I know named Heather are my aunt who is in her early 30's and a girl that I went to school with who is about 20. I don't see it having a comeback anytime soon.

Heather was a popular name when I was growing up (I was born in 1981). Like you, I've developed a fondness for the name; I used to think it was trendy and lame, but I started liking it once I didn't hear it so much anymore.

All the Heathers I know are in their 20's/30's, BTW.

My middle name is Heather, I'm 21. I know a girl with it as a first name the same age as me, and also a woman in her late 40s. I do think my name is a product of it's time, so slightly dated, but not overly so.

I like Heather. Heathers are both beautiful and tough (you get to realise that if you've ever slid down a mountain and had to grab hold of something :) ) They're also native to Scotland where I live.

I've always liked Heather. I think it's really pretty, and it works really well with a variety of mns.

Heather doesn't seem dated at all. I know four Heathers, and they're all different ages, so I think this is partly why it seems timeless to me.

My mother's eldest sister is Elizabeth Heather, but she has ALWAYS gone by Heather; she's in her early sixties. I also know a Heather who is in her forties (not sure of her mn) and a Heather Ann who is 28. The youngest Heather I know is Heather Eliza, and she's 10 years old.

None of the Heathers that I know ever use any kind of nn.

One girl in my high school was named Heather, but she didn't have any nns. I love it. It has the rep for being a mean girl's name but I think it's classy and the fact that it's less popular now means it's perfect to use.

I love it, and I see it making a comeback. I knew a lot of Heathers while growing up (I'm 26), and so I have too many associations and would have a difficult time using it. But, I would love to see a little Heather.

I never really liked this name either. I don't really like the sound of it and it makes me think of a plant, but not a flower, more like a shrub.

I know two girls named Heather (ages 21 and 25). One is Heather Lee Lastname and I know she loves her name because she thinks of her name together as an adjective, heatherly, and for some reason this really amuses her. I also two younger girls named Heather, both about 9 years old.

My cousins name is Heather.
When she was named Heather it was very uncommon.
Shes like in her 30s-ish now.
Sometimes my mom calls her "Heathe"(like Heather without the -er. not like HEETH)

I know one Heather who's 18. She doesn't use a nickname.

I didn't realise Heather was dated.

I know one Heather, and she'd be in her late 30's early 40's. I really don't see it coming back,and all i see is with this name is "heat her".

I know our poster Isla is named Heather, and I have a friend named Heather (also a nurse). Don't know her middle name.

I kind of like it, though it sounds like a dying person wheezing out a breath when you say it in a certain way.
