Sasha
What do you think of Sasha for a girl? As a full name, not short for anything. Do you know anyone named Sasha? Will it get more popular, wdyt?

It is ok, I much prefer it as a male nickname.

It's pretty... and I've never thought of it being "short for" anthing. Unless there's a celeb association, I don't imagine it suddenly getting popular, but I'm not in other people's heads, so I can't say for sure... Never saw Ethan and Liam coming and they're WAY overused now (and still no more attractive to me than before they were overdone... actually less attractive to me than before and they didn't really draw me in the first name... Difference this time is I actually LIKE Sasha).

I like this name. But I am biased because this was my brothers cat's name. :)

I love Sasha as a standalone name for a girl. But I also love it as a NN to either Alexander or Alexandra. I can never decide which I like more.

I know a girl named SashaFor me it's unisex, both good on girls and boys. I like it, but prefer it for a girl. There's also a semi famous guy here who is called Sasha and I believe there was also a German male singer who was Sasha. I don't know any male Sasha's personally.

I know a lot of Sashas, and I do think it works as a full name for a girl even though it's not legit. (I also know a boy Alexander-nn-Sasha and I find that really wonderful and adorable, but that's irrelevant.) I don't think Sasha's going to get more popular soon, but it'll probably stay steady (in the 300s).I like Sasha, it's sweet. I also really like Sancha, which is similar.

If fine with on a girl, but I'm very obsessive about the idea of nicknames needing a full name. I like it as a nn for Alexandra, but I find it a bit tacky as a full name for some reason.
This said, it's not anywhere as bad as the likes of Timmy or Ricky as full names, and would be ok on an adult.

It's completely masculine IMOI find it very handsome and manly, not the least bit feminine. I only know one person by this name, a guy but he spells it Sacha. I think it definitely will rise in popularity, mainly because it's considered a unisex name now and those are trendy right now.

I've met 1 guy w/ the name and a couple gals and always thought it sounded more fem... like Tasha, Summer, etc.
Always thought it sounded more girlie than masculine... though not offensively girly on a guy like some others (have always thought Brendan sounded excessively girlie even though it's a boys' name)... The girl who sticks out in my mind right now with the name seemed very girlie to me and it suited her in that girlie way.

DittoI mean, I know that it's always been a nn for both Alexander and Alexandra, but it's still extremely masculine to me. I'd use Alexis nn Sasha on a boy. Both names are very manly and, well, Russian haha.

It's not just considered a unisex name now. It has always been unisex. It's a Russian nickname for both Alexander and Alexandra.

The French use it too

True, but I think recently it's been kicked higher into "unisex" mode. I just find it to be more masculine than feminine.

Okay :) I just think it's really feminine even though I grew up with a guy named Sascha. weird :P

Yeah, I think a lot of it has to do with me knowing a male Sacha. I just can't see it on a girl after knowing him :)

I grew up in a fairly Eastern European community so the only Sashas I know are all male so it always looks weird to me as a girl's name. I guess it works as a stand alone name but I prefer it is a nn for the Alex names. I do think it will get more popular with it being Obama's daughter's name and thus getting more mainstream attention.

When I went to Russia I met heaps of girls named Sasha. I think it was short for Alexandra. I think it's unisex.

Yeah it's used as a nn for the Alex- names, Alexander is just way more common where I am (I think it's the most popular name in Russia)so its odd to see it on a girl.

I can't stand Sasha on a girl, but I love it on a boy (though I prefer spelling it Sascha). I guess it will rise a bit in popularity due to Sasha Obama.
