Hazel & Azalea? (twin girls)
I've always loved the sound of Azalea, but I don't want my child to suffer with a "strange" name. What do you think? It's not as "strange" as Isis is it? -Gina

LOVE LOVE LOVE Hazel. Sorry about the caps.
Kelly Clarkson's "Behind These Hazel Eyes" made me love it. :)
I like Azalea, but it is almost unheard of. I've never met anyone or even known of anyone with the name.

Seda: *shakes head* Maybe we are becoming stupider with time.

prefer Hazel.
Both names are beautiful. To me they sound less "strange" than Madison, Taylor and McKenzie as fn for girls.
The only thing is, how are they to say together? To me they sound a bit Z-heavy together, but then English is not my first language.
What about Azalea and Dahlia? I love flower names.
"You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."
"It does not become me to make myself smaller than I am." (Edith Södergran 1891-1923)

I love the name hazel but Azalea is awful in my opinion.
Thanks. Would you have the time to tell me what makes it awful? Don't hold back for my sake.
I think they look good together. For some reason although probably have the wrong meanings it reminds me of rare flowers.
No, you're quite correct, they're both plants.
I don't think Azalea is too unusual - it's not common but it's not weird either.
But I do think that Hazel and Azalea would fail the "other end of the house" test - go to one end of the house, and have your DH go to the other end. Shout the two names a few times, then have him shout them back. If you can't definitely and immediately tell which name is being shouted each time, they're too close for siblings.

Sage counsel. thanks
I think they are a bit too similar for twin names due to the Azel and Azel parts
Individually though they are both okay

I didn't see that in the name at first but I have to disagree with that because it think it sort of bonds them as twins without it being overly.
But they will already bonded by being twins sharing the same birthdate ( unless they are lucky enough to be born either side of midnight)and their names both being plant names too many things similar and it becomes overkill

I don't see it that way. I don't think it's too drastic. I never even saw it at first until you mentioned it.
I understand what your saying but I know several pairs of twins both identical and non idential and the majority of them hate it when people dont treat them as individuals, Cutesy twinsey names are one of their pet hates
But each to his or her own

I agree with you. I don't like it when they are cutesy twinsey names. However in this case I didn't see that.
I agree in this case they arent cutsey names like say Milly and Tilly but Hazel and Azalea are themey and very similar especially when written down
You dont see it as a problem thats fine you are entitled to your opinion as am I, and to me at least they are too similar for siblings let alone twins
I think we have about run this discussion into the ground :)

I'm sorry, but what does "you really have to pull it off, kwim?" mean? Is "kwim" an acronym?
know what i mean (kwim)
Meaning if she's a little cute stout girl maybe not so much. But if shes tall with hazel eyes , lets say, thats would be fitting to me, kwim? lol
