I pronounce it kin-NER-ret. That's the only pronunciation I've ever heard. It means "harp" (although I have one book which lists it as meaning "violin") and is the Israeli term for the Sea of Galilee. Speaking of which, I'm starting to like Galilee as a novel sort of place name.

Kinneret is going on my long list this minute. The meaning harp / violin makes sense. I'm sure their stringed instruments were not the same as ours are today.Thanks!

I LOVE Dana Kinneret. Beautiful. I also like Dana Michal but I guess it sounds a bit masculine to most people because they think Michal = kreatyff spelling of Michael :/

Michal = mee-KHAHLAnd was a daughter of King Saul in the Old Testament. :-P

oh I know :) and I just love it that way. but I fear people would say Michael and think I just chose to spell it Michal to make it more feminine :( I also love Noa but most people I know dislike it because they think of it as a boys name. Noa Michal would be soooo lovely, though. I can really see myself using Noa someday but how would I get people to pronounce Michal the way I want it pronounced? Meekhal looks weird :( any ideas?

Noa Michal!That was my No. 1 for SO LONG. Then it occurred to me that I'm in America and it would be Noah Michael on a girl. GRRR.If I move to Israel, though, which could definitely be in the cards, it's back on my list (despite its huge popularity).
