1. What do you think of Jade for a girl?2. Do you think it's a bit dated to the late 90s? It seems to have been quite trendy back then but isn't really popular at the moment.3. Do you think it's trashy? 1. It's pretty and I'd rather see it on a girl than a boy.2. not really... can still be used... esp. as a mn3. doesn't seem trashy to me... esp. if paired with something sensible like Christina or Elizabeth.4. My old youth pastor and his wife have a teenage daughter named Jade Ashley... Guess she's almost 16 now. A friend of mine had a boy named Jade (poor kid) who would also be a teen now. Met another boy named Jade who's prob'ly in early elementary school now... Other girls named Jade, I don't remember ages for. I think it's really nice as a mn, but can also be a good fn if paired appropriately. The one's I've known I think have all just been Jade.5. Jade is preferable as it's simple and straight-forward... Furthest I'd go on this one would be Jayde, but would likely just stick to Jade.6. I think it can be quite nice as a mn.7. sure... it sounds nice8. Wouldn't use "True" as a name and it doesn't fit well with Adelaida... Prefere Adelaide anyway, but it still wouldn't flow. Estella Brooke is also nice.

I don't know anyone with this name, but I do think it comes off as slightly tacky for a girl. Used right as an mn I sometimes like it. But on a boy, it's refreshing and I really like it. My one friend said that he wanted to name his future son Jaden. I quickly steered him away from that and convinced him that Jade would be much more original. Jada's not bad. But it's also slightly tacky to me. Estella Jade's not bad. Though I prefer Esme Jade and Evadne Jade as combos. I like it paired with more exotic feeling names rather than ones that are meant to sound really classy. Estella Brooke's nice. And I do like Adelaida True, but I don't know, maybe Adalaida would benefit from being paired with something a little more common since it's so unusual itself, yet stil traditional. It compliments Estella fairly well although I like it better with Estera (Polish form of Esther, Emera, Ernesta because they fit Adelaida's style slightly better in my mind.

1. What do you think of Jade for a girl? NMS, but I *do* like it on a boy, lol.2. Do you think it's a bit dated to the late 90s? Not in particular, no.3. Do you think it's trashy? No. It does feel a little bit slightly lower-class, tbh, but not "trashy."4. Do you know anybody named Jade? Not personally. I played a video game with a character named Jade (a man in his mid-30's) but I've never actually met a Jade.5. Do you prefer an alternate spelling? No.6. Do you think it's boring or filler as a middle name? It does feel a little filler, but I think it's pretty.7. Do you like Estella Jade? Yes.8. Estella Jade and Adelaida True for sisters? or Estella Brooke and Adelaida True? Estella Jade, definitely. Estella Brooke looks and feels really off to me, for some reason.

1. What do you think of Jade for a girl? I hate it, it's tacky. I admit I find it somewhat refreshing on a boy but it is still tacky2. Do you think it's a bit dated to the late 90s? Yep, definitely. It is very 90s/late 80s and I think it is still overused in the mn position. 3. Do you think it's trashy? I have to admit, I do sound like a hypocrite when I am giving my opinions on 'stone' names. Jewel, Jade and Crystal are so tacky they are beyond redemption in my mind. Whereas if I had a baby girl right this minute, she would be named Ruby and I don't find that trashy or tacky. I think it is to do with the socio-economic groups that more commonly use the different names, as snobby as that sounds. In Australia anyway, names like Crystal (and Kristle, Krystle etc) and Jade (and Jayde, Jaide etc) were always common in areas with a lower socioeconomic majority. In contrast, names like Ruby, Opal, Garnet, Jasper and Pearl which are usually considered "old lady" names are far more likely to be used by couples in higher socio-economic brackets. Which is probably also why Jasper and Opal might often be viewed as poncey 4. Do you know anybody named Jade? or Jayde (spelling variations)? Do you know how old they are or their middle names? Do you know many girls who have Jade as a middle name?
I know a couple of Jades and know of a Jayde and a Jaid. I have a friend named Casey Jade and my little brother has a good friend who is Madison Jade. Most Jades I know or know of are aged from 22-10

Thanks for the middle name suggestions! I've been trying for ages to come up with a nice middle name for Estella. I really like Estella Pearl. I'll never be able to decide between Estella Jade, Brooke and Pearl :P Estella Rose is beautiful but I know about 40+ girls with Rose as their middle name (Chloe Rose, Hayley Rose, Stephanie Rose, Charlotte Rose etc etc). I also like Estella May...for some reason I really want a one syllable middle name for Estella. I also thought of Estella Fay...Is Christie (as a full name) considered lower class in Australia? Just wondering, when I went there I met heaps of rather uneducated girls who were named just Christie.hmmmm my theory is that jewel names all become tacky. maybe I'm wrong, though. but i remember when Jade first became popular it was used by the upper class and then the lower class picked it up and it became hugely popular there. maybe it's because you can think of fake jewelery when you hear them.

I don't think Jade was ever used by the upper-class here in Australia. Ever.
Christie/Kristy/Kristi/Crysti etc as a full name is pretty restricted to the lower classes here I think. But it's hard to say- I am sure there are those from wealthier backgrounds named Christine, Christina or Kristin that go by Kristy occasionally...
I don't think Kristy has ever been overly popular here at all though

1. What do you think of Jade for a girl?
- Love it, always have and so does my bf, so it's on the list for possible use one day.
2. Do you think it's a bit dated to the late 90s?
- No I don't think so. To me it's a name that suits and decade.
3. Do you think it's trashy?
- No I don't find it trashy at all. I also don't find Amber, Jewel, Ruby (definitely not Ruby!), Emerald or Opal trashy either. Crystal can be trashy and so can Diamond for a fn, but I like Diamond for a mn.
4. Do you know anybody named Jade? or Jayde (spelling variations)? Do you know how old they are or their middle names? Do you know many girls who have Jade as a middle name?
- I've known a few girls named Jade in the past and I know someone with this name now. Have no idea on their mn's though. One of them would be about 24, the other would be around 20 or 21 and the girl I know now is 19. My brother's gf's mn is Jade.
5. Do you prefer an alternate spelling? Jayde, Jaid, Jaide etc?
- Jade is the only spelling I like.
6. Do you think it's boring or filler as a middle name?
- It is kind of filler for a mn, yes. It's still pretty though!
7. Do you like Estella Jade?
- Yes I do.
8. Estella Jade and Adelaida True for sisters? Or Estella Brooke and Adelaida True?
- I prefer Estella Jade and Adelaida True.

1. What do you think of Jade for a girl? It's nice. I'd never use it, but I like it.2. Do you think it's a bit dated to the late 90s? It seems to have been quite trendy back then but isn't really popular at the moment. Nope. I would probably feel differently if I knew a few Jades born in the 90s.3. Do you think it's trashy? I like it most of the time but then sometimes I do think it has a trashy feel like many jewel names (Crystal, Amber, Diamond, Jewel.....I even think Ruby sounds trashy sometimes....the only ones that never feel trashy are Emerald and Opal). Not trashy at all. It's too lovely to be trashy (and I must say, I don't think Jewel is at all either, but maybe because the only Jewel I know is a conservative elderly lady).4. Do you know anybody named Jade? or Jayde (spelling variations)? Do you know how old they are or their middle names? Do you know many girls who have Jade as a middle name? I don't know anyone named Jade or any variations, and I dont know anyone with the mn Jade.5. Do you prefer an alternate spelling? Jayde, Jaid, Jaide etc? No. All the alternative spellings look horrid, imo. :\6. Do you think it's boring or filler as a middle name? It definitely has the potential to become one....7. Do you like Estella Jade? Yes! It doesn't sound like a filler at all with a unique and beautiful name like Estella.8. Estella Jade and Adelaida True for sisters? or Estella Brooke and Adelaida True? Estella Jade and Adelaida True is lovely. The one syllable middle names tie the sibet together nicely, and both fns are wonderful.

1. What do you think of Jade for a girl?
It's my name so it's just normal to me. It was unusual when I was growing up but is quite common now.2. Do you think it's a bit dated to the late 90s? It seems to have been quite trendy back then but isn't really popular at the moment. I think it is slightly dated. It seemed to lose popularity in the UK extremely quickly around 2003, mainly I think, due to a slightly ditsy Big Brother contestant. 3.
I don't think it's trashy at all, although I know some people associate it with strippers. I can think of names that are much trashier. People have always commented on how pretty it is. I do think that the gem names do have a tendency to seem trashy or dated though.4. Do you know anybody named Jade? or Jayde (spelling variations)? Do you know how old they are or their middle names? Do you know many girls who have Jade as a middle name?
Yes, me! I'm 27, no middle names. I know another 2 girls around my age in my area called Jade, not sure of their middle names. I don't know anyone with Jade as their middle name.5. Do you prefer an alternate spelling? Jayde, Jaid, Jaide etc? NO! I think that makes it look trashy and dilutes the name somehow.6. Do you think it's boring or filler as a middle name?
Although I don't know anyone with Jade as a middle name, I know it was quite popular in Scotland for a while, a modern version of Jane kind of thing.

1. I love it. It was my top name for a long time, but I'm using Sage for my first girl. It's my husband's favorite name, and it's an honoring name since it's what my Dad wanted to name me. I can't have a sibset with both Jade and Sage.
2. No. I've never known any Jades.
3. I don't think so. The only think I was unsure about was the 15th century slang for a "lady of the night"...
4. No.
5. No. All alternates are ridiculous and make any name trashy, imo.
6. I don't love it as a mn, I wouldn't call it filler. It's not common. Marie, Grace, Elizabeth would be filler, but not Jade.
7. I don't care much for Estella, but the combo is ok.
8. Probably Estella Jade. I really dislike Brooke, which is very dated imo. I don't care for the mn True. Verity would be better.I'll share my history with the name Jade. I began liking the name when I was probably 12, and I read the Emily of New Moon books by L.M. Montgomery. Emily was nicknamed "Jade" by her schoolteacher. I loved it for a long time, but was concerned about the "lady of the night" connection. I heard the name Giada and loved it. I thought that it sounded like Jade only softer and more feminine. Then I researched it and found that Giada is the Italian form of Jade. How perfect! I could use my favorite name in a form that honors my Italian heritage. Except now, Giada de Laurentis is too famous, and I can't use Giada. My combos were Giada Elena or Jade Elena. Our last name begins with an M, and I wanted the initials GEM/JEM. But, I'm not using it at all now, due to the reason in #1.

JadeI've only met two people named Jade, and they were both male. I know of one girl named Jadene and she goes by the nn Jada (ala Jada Pinkett Smith). I don't mind Jade. I think it's okay. Not my favorite. It has a slightly trashy vibe but not bad, definitely not bad for a MN. It is a bit filler for a MN.
