Surnames? You mean they're used like "Smith" or something? Wow, I've never even heard of that. I'm just glad my surname doesn't include the word "gun".

Yeah I mean that is really common. I'm from South Dakota and those sound really standard for some tribes.
With the tribe around where I live You might hear something like:
Flying Hawk
Runs With Wolves
Medicine Horn
Horned Eagle
Squirrel Coat
Thunder Horse
Red Lightning

I've heard of most of these names, some, like Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull are quite famous but are you saying that basically the surname is chosen by the family? So that "Knows his Gun" is actually the surname but however has been picked by the family? I'm curious.

I actually didn't know that, so I'm sorry if I came off as ignorant. I've never ever heard names like that outside of books or movies or something. Probably because I've never been to areas with lots of Indian Americans. "Touch the Clouds" is actually quite cute.
